Employees stand on both sides of the entrance as Choi Bool-am's funeral vehicle arrives at the children's foundation he supported for decades. Actor Song Il-kook walks ahead carrying Choi's memorial portrait, while staff and fellow charity ambassadors gather to say goodbye.
South Korea's Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) reports that the November 2 stop at the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation headquarters in central Seoul fulfilled Choi's own request: after his death, he wanted his funeral procession to visit the foundation.
Choi was known to television audiences as an actor and as the presenter of Korean Cuisine and Dining. Here, the farewell centres on another part of his life: his 45-year association with the children's charity, where he served as chairman of its supporters' association.
Broadcaster Lee Hong-ryul, television personality Kim Kyung-ran and singer Andy are among the foundation's ambassadors shown laying flowers and wiping away tears. Inside, a host speaks about the absence Choi leaves behind before asking those gathered to observe a moment of silence.
Foundation team leader Kim Sun-hee struggles through her tribute, saying it is still difficult to believe they must send him off. She thanks him for remaining beside children throughout those decades. MBC reports that roughly 300 employees and officials took part in the farewell.
The procession then leaves the headquarters. A closing caption says Choi was laid to rest at Donghwa Memorial Park in Paju, north of Seoul.
