Скандал з утриманням людей у будинку під Києвом: заява керівника Нацгвардії Півненка
Drone operators and logistics specialists, not necessarily assault troops: that is how Ukraine's National Guard commander Oleksandr Pivnenko describes the roles awaiting recruits at the center of a controversy near Kyiv.
In a short address carried by Ukraine's Television News Service (TSN), Pivnenko says he has arrived at the site in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka because of circulating allegations of torture. He turns the camera toward a group of men in civilian clothing standing in a corridor, identifying them as National Guard servicemen undergoing registration.
His account focuses on what happens next. He says recruits will receive 58 days of basic military training, followed by 14 days of unit coordination training. A commander will then decide their assignments. Responding to concerns about immediate deployment to the front, he says the force needs personnel in several specialties, including drone operations and logistics, rather than sending everyone into assault roles.
The National Guard is part of Ukraine's Interior Ministry, with public-security responsibilities as well as military duties. Pivnenko asks the public to remain calm and says the force stands with the people.
The clip presents the commander's response, rather than an investigation establishing what happened inside the house. It ends with his thanks to servicemen for their service and civilians for their understanding.
