Сльозогінний газ і сутички під Києвом: що сталося біля будинку в Петропавлівській Борщагівці?
Tear gas spreads through a crowd outside a private house in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, near Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. People push against one another as police and helmeted National Guard personnel stand among those gathered.
Ukraine's Television News Service (TSN) reports that local residents assembled after hearing claims that soldiers were being held inside against their will and released in exchange for ransom. According to the residents' account relayed by the presenter, the soldiers had left their units without authorization.
Kyiv regional police denied reports of unlawful detention and rumors that someone had died at the scene, the report says. Police said personnel from a National Guard unit were inside the house. The footage does not establish who deployed the tear gas.
The National Guard is part of Ukraine's Interior Ministry and has public-security responsibilities. Its personnel's presence at the property is distinct from the residents' allegations about what was happening there.
The brief report combines daytime and nighttime confrontations outside the house. It ends with word that investigators, senior police officials and National Guard commanders had arrived to establish the circumstances, with further explanations still awaited.
