Stones hit a bus, windows shatter and protesters surround police vehicles in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, near Kyiv. The crowd is demanding the release of men inside the bus, following reports that people had been held unlawfully in a nearby house.
Ukraine's Channel 24 (24 Канал) broadcasts from the scene on November 2, showing a confrontation whose central allegations remain disputed. Its reporter describes the bus as intended to transport mobilized men from the building. Protesters block its departure, then rock and damage police cars positioned around it. Flying bricks and debris force the news crew to retreat.
An eyewitness tells the reporter that roughly fifteen to twenty people had been held in the house, some for a week or two, and reports that they were beaten. The witness also says a student inside the bus has a court-ordered exemption from mobilization. Those are the witness's accounts, not findings established by the broadcast.
The channel's accompanying description gives a different reported headcount: social-media posts alleged that forty people were being held in a basement. It says Kyiv regional police denied both unlawful detention and reports that one person had died. The description also says the Military Ombudsman's Office was working at the scene with National Guard commanders.
During the broadcast, the reporter reads a statement from the National Guard's 1st Azov Corps identifying the location as a temporary deployment site for military unit 3121. In a separate upload, the channel relays the corps' account that civilians demanded the handover of mobilized service members, blocked the site after being refused and tried to enter without authorization.
The reporter also says Kyrylo Budanov had arrived and entered the building earlier. Budanov, formerly Ukraine's military intelligence chief, has headed the presidential office since January 2026.
The footage shows National Guard members escorting a woman through the crowd after she becomes unwell. Later scenes show demonstrators continuing to kick and smash police vehicles. A subsequent report from the channel says people from the building were eventually brought out and evacuated under medical supervision.
