Lamont Tyson's channel runs mostly on short political clips: Trump at a rally, Gavin Newsom firing back, a no-bid jet contract at Homeland Security. Most of them settle at around 15,000 views in a day. His clip of Sunset Monae passed 57,000 in nine hours.

The argument started on Cam Newton's Funky Friday podcast. Actor Da'Vinchi, known for playing Terry Flenory in the Starz drama BMF, was asked why Black actors from outside the U.S. sometimes land Black American roles. According to the video's description, he said American culture keeps people dependent longer and called the country's work ethic "lazy and poor." The remark quickly grew into a wider debate about Black Americans, immigration and tensions within the diaspora.

The clip itself is credited to @povafro. In it, Sunset Monae pushes back, and the description closes by asking whether Da'Vinchi had a point or crossed a line in how he made it.

In the comments, many people answer with their own résumés. One describes rising from a store security guard to aerospace engineer while working full time and raising a family. Others bring up slavery and the long history of the "lazy" label, and an immigrant parent writes about raising Black American children. Several say they are done watching his work.

A day later, Tyson posted a second response, from comedian Godfrey. Its description notes that Da'Vinchi has since said some of his comments were too general.
