A filing to strip citizenship from 40 opens Tony Kinnett's show, with PragerU's CEO live
The nightly program's episode on the Justice Department's denaturalization push led a day when several Victor Davis Hanson commentaries also drew big crowds.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 378,723 views a day, 19 times a normal first day on this channel (20,134).
🚨BREAKING: Trump's DOJ Files to Strip Citizenship from 40 Immigrants, Minnesota Falling Apart
The Tony Kinnett Cast opened its latest night on a Justice Department filing to revoke the citizenship of 40 naturalized Americans. According to the episode's description, each is accused of hiding a serious criminal record on a citizenship application, and Attorney General Todd Blanche calls it "the largest denaturalization effort in modern history."
A full episode on The Daily Signal usually opens with around 20,000 views on its first day. This one went past 380,000 in about a day, and the likes came in roughly six times faster than usual. That is not entirely new for the show: as we reported here, an episode a few nights earlier also passed 300,000 in its first day. The program is billed as the channel's nightly flagship, hosted by national correspondent Tony Kinnett, and it seems to be the part of the channel that keeps drawing the biggest first nights.
The rest of the hour moved quickly. Kinnett turned to Minnesota, where gunfire outside an Eden Prairie High School homecoming game sent two teenagers to the hospital and postponed the game, and where ten of sixteen newly charged noncitizen voting defendants were based. Troop deployments to Saudi Arabia came next, then a live interview with PragerU CEO Marissa Streit about how the war could shape the midterms. The comment section ran about three times busier than a usual first day, and much of it was about the November vote, with a fair number of viewers writing that forty cases was far too few.
It was a busy stretch for the channel's commentary as well. Victor Davis Hanson's take on Tucker Carlson's World War II argument with Jacob Rees-Mogg, his Canada trade compilation and his look back at October 7 all ran well past the channel's usual start. The next night's episode, on a reported cartel threat to Border Patrol agents, had already passed 200,000 views.
