Victor Davis Hanson takes on Mamdani, Piker and Omar, and The Daily Signal's crowd follows
In six hours the comment section had nearly tripled a usual full first day, much of it turning to dual citizenship, while the channel's nightly news show had a big day of its own.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 347,420 views a day, 22 times a normal first day on this channel (15,730).
Victor Davis Hanson: The Double Standard of Islamist Immigrants Who Attack America
"Victor Davis Hanson: The Double Standard of Islamist Immigrants Who Attack America" is the newest of the historian's commentaries on The Daily Signal, the conservative news outlet's channel. It had been online for six hours when it passed 137,000 views, a pace on track for about twenty-two times a usual first day for the channel.
The argument, as the description lays it out, is aimed at three names: Zohran Mamdani, Hasan Piker and Ilhan Omar. Hanson says they condemn the United States and Israel over colonialism, inequality, oppression and war, but rarely turn the same scrutiny on Uganda, Turkey, Somalia and the countries they or their families came from. The description sums up his point as a call to look in the mirror before condemning America.
The comments arrived faster than the views. In those first six hours they came close to three times what a regular Daily Signal video gathers in a full first day. Much of the talk moved past the three people in the title to a single question: whether dual citizens, especially elected officials, should be allowed to hold office.
This is the fourth Hanson video to start this fast in four days, after Iran, Canada's Mark Carney and a lesson from George H.W. Bush's 1992 campaign. The channel's nightly news show also drew a crowd on the same day. Its episode on the Justice Department's misconduct complaint against six Minnesota federal judges, a Damascus pipeline explosion and the FlyDubai cockpit attack ran about seventeen times past a usual first day. Hanson's new video still had the faster start.
