Jack Smith's one sentence about the law carries TYT Investigates past 100,000
The former special counsel's short clip from Capitol Hill opened about seventeen times faster than the channel's usual Short, and testimony from two grieving sons followed close behind.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 84,749 views a day, 17 times a normal first day on this channel (4,947).
Jack Smith: "I Believe That NOBODY Should Be Above The Law, Regardless Of What Job They Hold"
A new Short on TYT Investigates usually finds around 5,000 viewers on its first day. This one, a few seconds of Jack Smith at a congressional hearing, drew about 85,000 and passed 100,000 a little after its first full day.
The title is the clip: Smith saying he believes nobody should be above the law, regardless of what job they hold. Smith was appointed special counsel in 2022 and led the federal cases over the 2020 election and the classified documents. That history explains why one sentence from him travels so far. The description adds nothing beyond the quote.
The comment section moved even faster than the views, at roughly sixteen times a usual first day. Much of it argues over the point the quote seems to answer: whether a president, and a sitting one in particular, can be investigated and prosecuted.
The channel cuts key moments from briefings and hearings, and it has had a run of fast starts. This is the third hearing clip in a week to leave its usual openings far behind, as we reported here. The same day, another clip drew a large audience too. In it, the sons of a man shot and killed by ICE tell their story to a congressional hearing. Together, the two pushed the channel's daily views to more than double their usual level.
