Video taking off 22x its usual first day

Hamas charity charges and a Miami voting ruling lead Tony Kinnett's glitchy night

The livestream ran into technical trouble, yet the episode still drew close to 400,000 views in about a day, the show's second big night running.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 386,622 views a day, 22 times a normal first day on this channel (17,256).

The Tony Kinnett Cast had a rough night behind the scenes. The livestream ran into technical problems, and one of the show's producers went into the comments to apologize and promise everything would be fixed before Monday's show. The trouble hardly held the episode back. About a day after it went up, it had close to 400,000 views. A new video on The Daily Signal usually ends its first day under 20,000.

That makes two strong nights in a row for the show, which the channel calls its nightly flagship. As we reported here, the previous episode, led by a foiled plot at the Texas Capitol, passed 300,000 views in about a day.

This one covered a crowded lineup. It opened with Justice Department charges, unsealed that day, against men in Florida and Louisiana accused of raising more than $1.7 million for Hamas through fake Gaza charity drives, with French authorities making arrests the same day. Next came a federal judge in Miami who ruled the 1996 law against noncitizen voting unconstitutional; the description says the department is expected to appeal. Then the political fight over Gov. Kathy Hochul handing a Cornell sexual assault case to New York Attorney General Letitia James, and France's student riots going into a third day.

The comments arrived about five times faster than on a usual first day. Most of the talk is about the Miami ruling and James's new role. A few viewers wrote to Kinnett that the news got through to them even with the broken tech.

Nothing else the channel posted that day came close. Its two new Midterm Report episodes with Rob Bluey, one of them with pollster Steve Cortes on Michigan's Senate race, were still in the tens of thousands.
