A Supra-powered Camry drives itself out, and an R34 GTR comes together
Jimmy Oakes split the week between two builds, and the yellow headlights on the Skyline became the comment section's favorite detail.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
My R34 GTR is coming out INCREDIBLE..
Among car channels close to his size, Jimmy Oakes had a calmer week than most. Top Dead Center and Royalty Auto Service drew several times his views, while Jimmy's channel ran a little below its usual daily pace and held its subscriber count where it was.
The garage itself was anything but idle. Two builds got an episode each. The first was the R34 GTR, billed in its title as "coming out INCREDIBLE..", and it went past 120,000 views on its first day. The description tags along his crew, and viewers spotted Tommy (of tommyfyeah) in the shop, pilates mat and all. The comments drifted to small things: the yellow headlights under yellow covers, a knowledgeable explanation of a little vacuum reservoir tank near the brakes, and a cheeky moment posing with what viewers call T-Pain's R34. A few also asked, half joking, whether Jimmy will actually drive these cars once they are done.
Then came the stranger project. Ten days after its "FIRST START UP!!", the Supra-swapped Camry "finally moves under its own power!!", a sensible family sedan with the heart of Toyota's sports car. Five days on, it is drawing views about three times faster than the GTR episode, and close to 175,000 people have now watched it roll.
That suits a channel whose about page promises nothing grander than following his learning with "all sorts of garage things."
