STRAD's 6,000-mile Lamborghini hunt closes in on his 401k video
Three days after James went looking for what he calls the rarest Lamborghini in the world, the trip has become one of the most watched videos on his channel.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 175,337 views a day, 8.8 times a normal day (19,816).
How far does a video travel when the trip in it covered 6,000 miles? For STRAD, quite far. "Flying 6,000 Miles to Find the Rarest Lamborghini in the World!" went up on Sunday and has passed 400,000 views in three days. The title keeps the car's name to itself, and the rarity claim is James's own.
As we reported here, the video arrived with a strong start. What has changed since is the company it keeps. It now sits just behind "My 401k Retirement Plan just TRIPLED!!!!", the late-August upload that has had six weeks to gather its audience. Only "Meet the Widowmaker.", from last December, stays well ahead.
The whole channel has felt the trip. Daily views are running close to nine times their usual level, and the week added about a thousand subscribers. Is the new video doing nearly all of that work, or are newcomers clicking back through the older Lamborghini episodes? It is hard to say from the outside.
The about page is brief: James, a puppy named Oskar, "and this is my life." That life runs heavily to Italian cars. In April he took apart his Lamborghini Temerario, and in the same month he raced in Cleetus McFarland's Freedom 500 at Cleetus's invitation. Among car channels of a similar size, most are moving slower than usual right now, which makes this week stand out even more for his.
