Aero off, 200 mph on: Brooks Weisblat's Corvette ZR1X goes for the mile
At Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds the 1,250-horsepower Chevrolet ran beside a Lamborghini Temerario, a Ferrari 296 GTB and a McLaren 750S.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
0-200 MPH in my 1,250 HP Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X vs Temerario, 296GTB, 1,000 HP 750S
"0-200 MPH in my 1,250 HP Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X vs Temerario, 296GTB, 1,000 HP 750S" is the payoff of a two-part story on DragTimes, Brooks Weisblat's channel of drag runs, dyno pulls and car reviews. Brooks joined the Corsa Rally Group at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, the long runway at the old Kennedy Space Center shuttle landing site in Florida, to see how fast his new ZR1X could go from a standing start.
The setup came a few days earlier. In the first video he finished the car's 500-mile break-in, tried a street launch to 60, then removed the carbon fiber aero package with help from Area 51 Motorsports, all to cut drag for a standing mile past 200. The finale drew more than 90,000 views in its first fifteen hours, a far quicker start than the prep video had.
The comments are a garage conversation. Many viewers think the yellow Temerario is underrated, several are struck that the Corvette's speedometer matched the GPS almost exactly, and one thread picks up a detail Brooks explained on camera: the ZR1X's front electric motor switches off above 160 mph. Others suggest stripping even more off the Corvette, because the McLaren was flying.
Outside the two Corvette uploads, the channel was calmer than usual. Daily views ran at about half their normal pace, and subscribers ticked up by around a thousand. Among similar car channels, Top Dead Center and Royalty Auto Service had the busier weeks, while DragTimes sat mid-table. A 17-day-old review of a Kia Telluride Hybrid, bought for the cabin instead of a Range Rover, still brings in a steady stream of viewers.
