A downshift next to a cop, and QUIET SRT's viewers blame the cameraman
The short's comment section cares less about the loud Corvette than about the friend filming it, who moved over and left the officer a clear path.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 101,692 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (7,797).
No way he did that infront of a COP! 👮🚔🚨
The car in "No way he did that infront of a COP! 👮🚔🚨" is loud, and that is the whole joke: a Corvette shifting down and crackling within earshot of a police officer. Most of the people watching, though, have turned their attention to the person holding the camera.
The most liked comment is a piece of street etiquette. When you follow a friend with a noisy car, viewers explain, you stay right behind him, so the officer has no easy path to pull him over. Instead, the filming car changed lanes, and the comments are full of mock outrage at a cameraman who seems to clear the way for the police. A few go further and say he practically asked the officer to note the plate.
Others come to his defense, in a way. Several viewers argue the Corvette was barely over the speed limit and only sounded fast, and that the downshift was simply how the driver slowed down. Some identify the car as a ZR1 and talk mostly about its engine note.
Sixteen hours after it went up, the short had passed 84,000 views, on a channel where a new short usually ends its first day below 8,000. The comments came in more than ten times faster than on a typical first day. The channel posted five more clips the next day, among them a Corvette cold start and a Hellcat that viewers are asked to call real or fake.

Nah you gotta stay behind them. Helps to deter the cop from pulling him.
