Two worn-out John Deere engines, one to save: JAMSI's tractor short

The father-and-son machine shop in rural Colorado posted three shorts, and the one about old green iron passed 370,000 views in three days.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A usual day at Jim's Automotive Machine Shop brings in around 600,000 views, and this week ran a bit cooler than that. The shop still did plenty of work on camera: three new shorts, each one a small rescue.

The one that traveled furthest is "Two worn-out John Deere engines. One chance to save it." Two tired tractor engines, enough good parts between them for one, and a comment section that reads like a club for people who love old farm machinery. Many viewers say simply that old iron is worth saving, a few call it a piece of history, and one sharp-eyed watcher wants to know about ketchup apparently doing duty as assembly lube.

The other two stayed closer to the shop's usual cars. A set of cylinder heads came back for a second rebuild after barely running, and a Buick block already bored .060 over was somehow saved anyway, as its title puts it.

The heavy lifting on the channel also comes from earlier shorts. A piston story from twelve days ago, about "perfect" replacements that turned into a new problem, has passed 1.2 million views, and a connecting rod short about one tiny radius is still drawing a steady crowd.

Among the car and motoring channels of a similar size, JAMSI gained the second most views this week, behind only ClawBoss. NoNonsenseKnowHow ran warmer than its usual pace, while DEBOSS GARAGE had a quieter stretch. For a shop Jimmie Wolfrum opened in January 1983, now run with his son Nicolaus, a tractor engine is familiar work, and a reminder of why the rural Colorado setting suits it.
