A Clio V6, a leaking Jag and a soaked Audi TT on the road to Ireland

Autoalex's 1000-mile trip in cheap crashed cars ended with a stop in Ireland and a comment from the host who is still cleaning oil off his concrete.

One upload, one long drive. Autoalex Cars, the British channel that sums itself up as car builds, automotive adventures and stupid financial mistakes, spent its week on "We ATTEMPTED 1000 Miles In Our Cheap Crashed Cars!", the sequel to the £2000 crashed-car challenge from the week before. It opened with close to 390,000 views on its first day and has passed half a million since.

The cars tell most of the story. One of the purchases is a Renault Clio V6, the mid-engined oddity Renault built around the turn of the century, and viewers singled out the edit that fades its badge onto the car. There is a Jaguar XJ too, and an Audi TT convertible whose roof broke before the crew crossed to Ireland. The comment section did the obvious maths about Irish weather, and one Irish viewer says it was pouring when they reached Dublin port. The most liked comment comes from the man who hosted the crew for an evening: he remembers the fun fondly, and the oil the Jaguar left on his concrete just as well. Others are asking which service was used to check the cars' histories, and a few are already wondering whether the Clio will get the full restoration it deserves.

The channel ran slower than its usual pace, with about a million views over the week and a thousand new subscribers. Among motoring channels of a similar size it sat in the middle, while ClawBoss and Jim's Automotive Machine Shop had the busiest weeks of the group.

What viewers say

  • It was a pleasure to host you guys for the evening, great fun was had & the memories will last a life time, just like all the oil that poxy Jag left on my concrete.

  • Irish person here. As soon as Taylor’s roof broke I said to myself, he’s 100% guaranteed to get soaked in Ireland… lands at Dublin port, pouring with rain 😂
  • Taking a convertible with a broken roof to Ireland is the epitome of optimism.
