Autoalex's Rolls-Royce treasure hunt uncovers a very old Twix
Pearls, earrings and loose change emerge from beneath the Phantom's rear seats in the channel's only new upload.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
We Found Treasure Inside Our Cheap Rolls-Royce
The wrapper gives the game away: the Twix expired in 2019. That doesn't stop the man in red from taking a bite, then delivering the restrained verdict, "I've had better."
Autoalex Cars' only new upload, "We Found Treasure Inside Our Cheap Rolls-Royce", turns removing the Phantom's rear seats into a small archaeological expedition. A phone torch picks out earrings, glitter and pearls among the wiring. Then come the coins, with a suggestion that the recovered cash can be deducted from the purchase price. Luxury motoring rarely offers quite such modest cashback.
The Short had collected roughly 14,000 views in its first 19 hours. Underneath, viewers pick up on the chocolate's pre-pandemic vintage, while one shares a memory of finding jewellery in an auction car.
The Phantom story also has a substantial longer instalment to catch up with. "Rolls-Royce Wanted £50,000, We Fixed It For £5000!" has passed a million views and remains the busiest regular video by daily views. Behind it is "Can This ABANDONED Ferrari Be Saved?", featuring the dusty 456 V12 and a visit from Ratarossa.
Subscribers increased over the week, although today's channel viewing is well below its usual daily level. Among nearby motoring channels, weekly views were close to Car and Driver's; Jim's Automotive Machine Shop had a much busier week. For Autoalex Cars, the latest addition is less about another enormous repair bill than the peculiar things a previous owner leaves under the seats.
