Ed Cole's 1955 small-block, reborn as a 6.6L for the 2027 Silverado

Chevrolet's 13-day-old engineering film on the sixth-generation V8 has passed 120,000 views, while a Duramax factory tour and a look at the High Country cabin joined it.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Engines, mostly. Chevrolet spent its week on what sits under the hood of the next-generation 2027 Silverado, and the video doing the most work went up nearly two weeks ago.

"The Science Behind Chevy's Next-Gen V8" traces the small-block from Ed Cole's original 1955 engine through the famous 350 to the new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s, the sixth generation of a design Chevy says has shaped American performance for more than 70 years. Engineers walk through the technology before the truck goes out on the road, and the film has passed 120,000 views while still picking up more each day than anything posted since.

The new uploads stayed close to the same truck. "How a Duramax Diesel Engine Is Built, Step by Step" follows the diesel from machining to final assembly, and its comment section turned into a workshop of its own: one owner says his 2006 2500HD with an Allison transmission is about to roll past 300,000 miles, others want to know how big the compressor wheel is, and a few are already wondering how easy the engine will be to work on. A shorter piece on how the High Country interior got its look arrived Friday, and a State Fair of Texas clip of trucks and trivia rounded things out.

The channel ran well above its ordinary daily pace, adding a little over a million views. Among car channels of similar size it landed fourth by views gained, while ClawBoss and Top Gear Classic each had far bigger weeks and Autocar kept to a calmer one.

  • Love the duramax. I drive a 2006 2500hd paired with an Allison tranny. It's about to roll over 300k. Love the truck. And it sounds like a jet. 😂😂
