Harry Metcalfe puts his Jaguar XE Project 8 up for sale

The 600bhp saloon he helped bring to life during his years advising Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations is leaving his garage, and he tells the whole inside story on the way out.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Of all the cars in Harry Metcalfe's collection, the Jaguar XE Project 8 seemed the least likely to go. He was an outside advisor to Jaguar Land Rover from 2013 to 2018, helping set up Special Operations, the division that built the car, so this is a machine he watched from the start. His one upload of the week tells that inside story, and then announces that he is selling his own.

The video went past 188,000 views in about twelve hours, far quicker than the channel's usual pace. The comment section reads like a collective double take. Many viewers say they assumed it would stay forever, several point out that no other car in his garage carries his own fingerprints, and a few have decided the 35 minutes amount to a very fine advert. One running joke claims he is replacing it with a 2001 Toyota Yaris Verso. Others are already guessing what the real replacement is, with Gordon Murray's name coming up more than once.

Behind it, last week's verdict that the 2026 BMW M5 Touring does not deserve its badge is still drawing a steady crowd, and his week with the £1M Aston Martin Valhalla keeps ticking over.

The subscriber count held still, and daily views ran a touch below their usual level before the Jaguar arrived. Among the motoring channels nearest his size, Harry's garage gained the fourth most views; George J Saliba had the big week, with several times more than anyone else in the group.

What viewers say

  • Surely one of the best sales pitches ever?
  • That gives me about six weeks to win the lottery. I hope they get the memo that its my turn.

  • Don’t suppose you’re interested in a straight swap for a 23 plate Jimny with some aftermarket alloys and some snazzy seat covers? No, I thought not. Worth a go though. Sorry to see the Jag go Harry - interested to see what will be replacing her. All the best with the sale.
