FBI and IRS search Midlothian homes and oil business
FOX 4's report connects the searches to a business facing investor-fraud lawsuits, while a neighbor describes the morning's federal presence.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 148,297 views a day, 26 times a normal first day on this channel (5,820).
Midlothian oil and gas business raided by federal agents
Unmarked vehicles outside a Midlothian home were Kevin Pardue's first sign of the federal operation unfolding in his neighborhood. "Pretty concerning, you know, to see that when you first wake up in the morning," he tells FOX 4 reporter David Sentendrey.
The station's report shows officers around residential properties as Sentendrey identifies the FBI and IRS as participating agencies. The searches covered several homes and an oil and gas business in the city southwest of Dallas.
Sentendrey also describes lawsuits alleging that the business advertised oil projects that did not exist. Those are allegations in legal filings, not findings established by the searches. At the time of the report, the company had not provided comment.
The brief report drew roughly 150,000 views in its first day, far beyond FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth's usual audience for a Short. Its central contrast is between the scale of the visible federal operation and how little neighbors knew about it. Pardue puts that limit plainly: "Really still at this point don't have anything factual."
A city in Ellis County, Texas, about 25 miles southwest of Dallas.
