A Finsbury Park launderette turns into a rave in Finlay Christie's sober VICE parody

Henry Hayes and Freya Mallard join him for "if VICE made a documentary about sober people," his only upload of the week, filmed as the UK and Ireland tour gets going.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

What would a gritty nightlife documentary look like if nobody in it was on anything? Finlay Christie's answer, "if VICE made a documentary about sober people," points the earnest, hand-held VICE style at people who are thrilled about water and early nights. He made it with fellow comedians Henry Hayes and Freya Mallard, and the description thanks Laundry Riviera for lending the location.

One viewer recognized it straight away as their old launderette in Finsbury Park. Most of the comment section is busy writing the sequel: people invent their own clean-living highs, from hydration to a full night's sleep, and a few say they would happily turn up to a real version. Another viewer hears an echo of Limmy's "clowning" sketch, and the running joke about Finlay's "gurnalist" has caught on.

It is his only new video of the week, and in about 15 hours it passed 56,000 views. That makes it the fastest thing on the channel right now. The September short "Too woke to end a hookup" is still pulling steady numbers a month in, and his Mock the Week highlights continue to tick along.

The channel as a whole is running a little above its usual daily pace. Subscribers held level at around 609,000, and among the stand-up comedians closest to him in size it was a busier week for Denny love and Phil Hanley.

The timing fits the calendar. The skit landed on the night his tour reached Chelmsford, with Dublin, Nottingham and Leeds coming up over the next fortnight.
