Andrew Kwong tilts the bench back in 'Fix These Dumbbell Shoulder Press Mistakes'
Three days after his chest press short, the same first rule comes back: leave a small gap between the weights at the top.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 128,035 views a day, 7.1 times a normal first day on this channel (17,952).
🚫 Fix These Dumbbell Shoulder Press Mistakes!
Andrew Kwong likes to fix one exercise and then move on to its neighbor. On October 2 he posted "❌ Don't Dumbbell Press Like This!", a short about pressing for the chest. Three days later came the shoulder version, and it opened at about seven times his usual pace. A little over a day in, it had passed 140,000 views. A new short of his usually ends its first day under 20,000.
The short makes three corrections. Anyone who saw the chest press video will know the first one: don't smash the dumbbells together at the top. Leave a small gap and finish with the weights stacked over the shoulders. The second is about depth. Stopping when the arms reach 90 degrees cuts the range short, the description says, so he wants the dumbbells lowered close to the shoulders, as far as mobility allows. The third is the bench itself. He tilts it back to around 70 degrees and keeps the elbows a little in front of the body, so they don't flare out.
That bench angle is what the small comment section keeps coming back to, with viewers checking that it really shouldn't stand straight up. Others push back on the depth rule and argue that both ranges of motion build muscle. One commenter, writing in Russian, says the two versions simply load different parts of the deltoid. Another jokes that heavy weight turns any form into bad form.
It suits a channel whose about text promises easy-to-understand tips for putting on muscle and losing fat, and whose week moved from chest to lats to shoulders. Kwong, a physical therapist by training, was back on Tuesday with a dumbbell row short built on a single cue: drive the elbow toward the hip.

The numbers
For a channel that posts short form tips almost daily, this start stands well clear of the usual first day.

The deltoid, the shoulder muscle this short trains, is named after which Greek letter because of its triangular shape?
The muscle's triangular outline resembles the capital Greek letter delta (Δ), which gives it its name.
