Subscriber surge +999,470 subscribers in a day

Four strangers locked in a supermarket, and nearly a million new subscribers for MrBeast

Saturday's "Eat Everything In A Grocery Store, Win $1,000,000" passed 100 million views in three days, as the channel reached 520 million subscribers.

Why this story? The channel is adding 999,470 subscribers a day, 17 times a normal day (59,054).

On a usual day, MrBeast's channel picks up around sixty thousand subscribers. That is already a big number by anyone's standards except his own. The latest day brought in close to a million, and the channel now stands at 520 million subscribers.

It came three days after the Saturday upload his about text promises every week at noon Eastern. "Eat Everything In A Grocery Store, Win $1,000,000" has a premise that fits in one line of its description: four strangers are trapped inside an entire supermarket, and the only way out is to eat everything on the shelves. The prize is the seven-figure sum in the title. The video passed 100 million views over the weekend and is past 121 million. The channel's overall daily views are running far above their usual level too.

The tone has swung a long way in a short time. In mid-September Jimmy Donaldson's channel posted "I Built A City To Save Kids From Illegal Labor," a village built with foundations and partners, with solar power and school meals. The week after brought a lighter puzzle, "What's Inside My Briefcase?" Now it is a group of hungry strangers facing aisle after aisle of food. Perhaps a challenge this simple to explain is the kind that brings in people who had never pressed subscribe before.

The grocery store has caught up fast. "I Survived The Most Extreme Places On Earth," his race across some of the planet's harshest terrain from early September, took a month to reach roughly the total the supermarket video reached in three days.
