Real Coca-Cola, a balloon-popping laser and 58,000 new subscribers at Make Waves
The Spawnpoint Media channel posted a single video, and a taste test from August is the one still drawing the crowd.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Tested the World’s Most Powerful Laser…
On a usual day, Make Waves pulls in well over a million views. This week's days ran slower than that. Even so, the channel ended the week with about 9 million views and 58,000 new subscribers, the biggest gain in views among the challenge and stunt channels close to its size.
The only new upload was "I Tested the World’s Most Powerful Laser…", a hands-on test that ends with at least one balloon meeting the beam. Judging by the comments, the pop is not what got people. The scream that came with it did. Others compare the beam to Buzz Lightyear's laser, minus the blinking bulb, and a few point out that the laser looks 3D printed.
The real workhorse is older. "Who Will Pick the Real Coca Cola?😱", a blind taste test posted 46 days ago, has passed 18 million views and is still moving faster than anything else on the channel. Behind it sits a $1,000 3D pen design contest, and then a run of puzzles that the description says raise EY and FI's IQ with every answer.
Around the group, Dude Life and JakeTheJuice are running hot, with JakeTheJuice at about three times its usual pace, while Ryan Tricks has had a calmer week.
