Sam Fricker's Sunday dive draws a comment box in six languages
Two shorts went up under the same plain title, and one of them pulled clearly ahead while viewers wrote in Portuguese, Thai, Russian, German and Spanish.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 95,158 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (7,231).
Sam Fricker diving
Sam Fricker posted two dives on Sunday and gave both the same name he always uses: "Sam Fricker diving." Both ran well past his usual start for a short. The busier one passed 89,000 views in about 21 hours, roughly twelve times what a new short of his usually manages in a full first day. The other did about half as well.
The British diver's channel is enormous, close to six million subscribers, yet his new shorts tend to open quietly before the older clips do the heavy lifting. This one did not wait.
The comment section is still small, but it is far busier than usual, and it travels. A Sunday greeting comes in Portuguese, warm notes arrive in Thai and Russian, a German viewer reaches for a word that means a feast for the eyes, and a Spanish one simply writes "maravilloso." Some viewers play judge and hand out scores between 9.5 and 10. Another points out the splash.
He kept going on Monday with a third short of the same name, a Mykonos clip and one called "Sending it hard," all still early in their first day.
