Mýa, 25 years into staying stage-ready, shows the jump rope routine behind it
The 'Lady Marmalade' singer's Strong Like workout had a quiet first day, then drew more than 50,000 views on its third.
Why this story? The video is running at 54,389 views a day, 20 times its usual pace (2,705).
Mýa explains why exercise is important at any age
Mýa has been on stages since the late 1990s, and her new Women's Health video credits one plain habit for it: staying consistent for 25 years. The R&B singer, 46 according to the description, walks through the routine she uses to stay strong and ready to perform. Jump rope keeps her cardio up, and triceps dips and squat pulses handle the strength work.
The video belongs to the magazine's Strong Like series, and it started slowly. Its first day brought about 2,400 views. On its third day it drew more than 50,000, and it is not clear what set that off.
The stage-ready angle suits her. Mýa broke through with her self-titled debut in 1998, had a hit with "Case of the Ex" in 2000, and shared a Grammy for the 2001 "Lady Marmalade" cover with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Lil' Kim.
She is not the only R&B singer in the series this week. Victoria Monét's lower-body session went up on September 29 and is still in the low thousands. The channel's other standout belongs to Lioness actor Laysla De Oliveira, whose video on how the role got her into training has passed 100,000 views.
Under Mýa's video, viewers ask how old she was when she started training. One says a move she shows is already part of their own stretching and still burns. Another questions how far her knees bend back during the exercise.
