A diesel-electric Ramcharger and a CANSEC visit keep Deboss Garage humming

The Ontario shop's summer build with Edison Motors, which took it to Ottawa's defence show and the Canadian Tank Museum, is the video drawing the most viewers right now.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

No new uploads. Deboss Garage, the Canfield, Ontario shop whose motto promises that if you're not filthy, you're not Rich, took a week away from the camera, and its back catalogue kept the lights on.

The video doing the most work is "Our Diesel-Electric Truck Is So Quiet the Military Wants One," now about three months old. It follows the shop's hybrid truck project, built with access and equipment from Edison Motors, the British Columbia company known for its diesel-electric retrofit systems. The chapters read like a road trip: a secret, a stop at CANSEC (Canada's big defence and security trade show in Ottawa), a visit to the Canadian Tank Museum, then a long talk about retrofitting old vehicles and keeping the design simple.

Two older projects sit right behind it. One is a budget experiment: the cheapest under-dash air conditioning kit the crew could find on Amazon, installed piece by piece, with 3D-printed vent louvers and a final verdict on whether they fit. That one has passed half a million views. The other is a teardown of the VM Motori 3.0 EcoDiesel V6, the Stellantis engine found in the Ram 1500, Wrangler, Gladiator and Grand Cherokee, which the description calls the little diesel nobody can rebuild.

With nothing fresh to push it along, the channel ran at a little over half its usual daily pace, and the subscriber count held at 869,000. Among the car channels close to its size, it was one of the calmer weeks. George J Saliba had the loud one, with views well above his normal run, while effspot also ran warmer than usual on a similar scale to Deboss.

A hybrid truck from June is still pulling the most weight, which suggests the audience is as curious about where a pickup goes next as about what is under its hood.
