An Aztec warrior in three round liners, and Michelangelo's David on a sleeve
Daniel Silva's two new shorts both show work from the chair, one of them a sleeve still in progress.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Aztec Warrior Tattoo (3RL ONLY) 🫴🏽 #tattooideas #shorts
Two shorts went up from Daniel Silva's Los Angeles chair, and both are about faces carved or drawn with a lot of patience.
The first, "Aztec Warrior Tattoo (3RL ONLY)," is the tattoo-nerd one: the title says the whole piece was done with a 3RL, a small three-needle round liner usually kept for fine lines. Viewers took the challenge seriously. One of the comments that drew replies points out, with a raised eyebrow, that it looks like far more than three lines, while most of the rest is simply people saying how long they have been watching his work. It passed 9,000 views in three days.
The second is a work in progress: a sleeve built around the statue of David, Michelangelo's marble giant from Florence, which has become one of the favorite classical subjects of black-and-grey tattooing. Two days in, it is picking up views at almost the same daily pace as the warrior, so the half-finished arm is holding its own.
Further back, a month-old leopard headdress piece is still drawing a steady trickle.
The channel overall moved at close to its usual pace. Among similar-sized art and craft channels, Massoyan Jewelers is having the enormous week, while Ross Draws and JD THECAMERAGUY sit at a calm pace much like Silva's own, a Bay Area-raised tattooer whose arms of statues and warriors keep finding the same patient crowd.
