It took five years. Chris Bumstead arrives in Pensacola to see the custom Mustang he ordered, and this time there is a finished car waiting for him.
In "life is meant to be enjoyed," the black 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 comes with a modern engine and a customized classic interior. Cody Dabney of Velocity Modern Classics walks him through the build before they head out for a test drive.
The wait has a complicated backstory. Bumstead recounts placing his order with Classic Recreations; Velocity's Tom Maxwell explains that the company went bankrupt before Velocity acquired it and finished the project. By the time Bumstead gets behind the wheel, the car has been a long-running plan rather than an impulse purchase.
The vlog drew about 145,000 views in its first eleven hours, an unusually quick start for his regular uploads. In the comments, viewers pick out the engine sound and the combination of cars and bodybuilding. Others still have their eyes on his squat depth.
There is training here, too. After traveling to Toronto for an event for his brands, Bumstead works through arm supersets in a hotel gym. Later, he explains that he wants to move beyond a strength-focused phase toward more athletic training, leaving room for basketball and tennis.
He also gives a reason for continuing to make videos: "I don't have to be doing these YouTube videos. I want to be providing value for people."
