Channel 4's week brings a gluten-free Hollywood Handshake

Bake Off recognition joins Celebrity Gogglebox and Stevo's farm chores across fifteen uploads.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Paul Hollywood's handshake has acquired a new distinction on Channel 4: a clip billed as the first ever awarded to a gluten-free bake. It joins Tom's third handshake of the series in a week with plenty of attention to what happens inside the Bake Off tent.

The gluten-free moment is already among the channel's busiest uploads for daily viewing. But the week's most-watched new arrival remains Stevo's Changing Lanes farm visit, now at roughly 344,000 views after a very modest opening day.

Stable cleaning becomes considerably less orderly when Stevo picks up horse manure with his bare hands and threatens to throw it if his daughters won't help. The clip is a paid partnership with KwikFit. Among the comments, viewers recall watching Stevo when they were younger and pick up on the dad jokes, giving the farm mishaps a little reunion atmosphere.

Elsewhere, Celebrity Gogglebox brings Andy Burnham, Sugababes and Joe Lycett into the armchair mix for Stand Up To Cancer, with Only Connect, Strictly and Celebrity Traitors on the viewing menu. An Educating Yorkshire full episode adds a return to the original series and its school friendships.

Channel 4 gained subscribers over the week, while its current daily views are roughly twice the usual level. Its weekly viewing total is the largest among the nearby television channels here, with BBC Archive also having a lively week and E4 quieter. For Channel 4, the distinctive combination is farmyard mischief, sofa commentary and an unusually inclusive baking accolade.
