Rebellion, doubt and unranked rewards: Brendon Burchard on doing the obvious thing

His only upload of the week names three reasons people skip what they already know would help, and it follows a run of episodes on finishing what you start.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the self-improvement channels closest to his size, Brendon Burchard landed in the middle this week, fifth of eight for views gained, at a little over 80,000. Robert Greene had the big week in the group. Marie Forleo, who shares Burchard's subscriber count of just over a million, had a quieter one much like his.

Burchard posted a single training, "If You Know What To Do But Still Don't Do It, Watch This." The description boils it down to three culprits: rebelling against being told what to do, a quiet belief that you will not finish what you start, and competing rewards you never ranked. Its pitch is that consistency is a choice, not a willpower problem.

The comments took that personally. One viewer recognized the point about people ignoring an idea at work because it came from the boss. A door-to-door salesperson admitted to pushing back against a manager who keeps asking for more knocks. Another pointed to a moment near the three-minute mark and the trap of telling yourself you "have to" go train.

It fits a thread on the channel. "How Dare You Limit Your Potential," from two weeks earlier and past 220,000 views, took on the phrase "that's just not me." Overall the channel is running well below its usual daily pace, and the subscriber count held steady.
