Bad Monkey — Season 2 Official Trailer | Apple TV

A rooftop meeting is supposed to frighten Andrew Yancy. Instead, Vince Vaughn's former detective comments on the romantic view, leaving the man confronting him to explain: "It was meant to be intimidating."

That mismatch between danger and small talk runs through the new Bad Monkey trailer, which announces the comedy's return on December 2. Yancy's colleagues want him to nail Spencer Donovan, identified in the trailer as a major figure in Miami organized crime. Yancy, meanwhile, would like to know whether he can quickly call 911.

The trailer has drawn more than 330,000 views in its first eleven hours, an unusually fast start for an Apple TV upload of this length. The comments turn to the cinematic look, memories of Vaughn in Swingers and one conspicuous absence: a viewer was hoping to hear the show's familiar ringtone.

Developed by Bill Lawrence from Carl Hiaasen's fiction, Bad Monkey follows a former Miami cop working as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. This preview puts him amid gunfire, chases and explosions, warning that the people involved aren't merely criminals: they're assassins.

His investigative technique still needs work. After flipping an armed attacker, Yancy admits he forgot to ask questions during the assault. Even a fall through an awning into a poolside party becomes an opportunity to announce that he'll be at the bar, available to mingle.
