Richard Blumenthal defends Jack Smith in 'Everybody Watching Should Be CHILLED'
The Connecticut senator's answer to Republican attacks on the special prosecutor drew more comments in fifteen hours than a usual clip here gathers in a day many times over.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 90,660 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (5,490).
"Everybody Watching Should Be CHILLED By What You've Just Recounted"
Jack Smith's Senate hearing keeps giving. TYT Investigates, the clips channel that cuts White House briefings and congressional hearings into short pieces, has spent days posting exchanges from Smith's appearance. The cut that pulled furthest ahead is not a Republican's questions but a Democrat's defense.
The description sums it up: Sen. Richard Blumenthal pushing back on Republican efforts to discredit the special prosecutor. The title is a reaction to testimony: everybody watching, it says, should be chilled by what had just been recounted. Blumenthal spent two decades as Connecticut's attorney general before he reached the Senate, and a prosecutor's record under fire is familiar ground for him. The clip passed 70,000 views in its first 15 hours, where a regular-length upload here usually ends a whole first day with around five thousand.
The comments moved even faster, well past ten times the channel's usual first-day count. Most of them thank Smith by name. Others thank Blumenthal, a few write in as his constituents, and one brings up Gen. Mark Milley.
It was not the only hearing clip running hot. A new cut of Smith's exchange with Sen. Katie Britt, posted the same day, also ran well past the channel's usual start. Yet the channel as a whole had a fairly ordinary day. A repurposed John Cornyn exchange followed the next morning, so the hearing is still feeding the channel's schedule.
