Katie Phang says Todd Blanche still hasn't complied, and her viewers ask about contempt
Her short take on the FBI notes in her Epstein files lawsuit drew comments nearly ten times faster than her Shorts usually do, and most of them ask what happens to an official who ignores a judge.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 172,193 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (17,178).
AG BLANCHE FAILS To COMPLY With JUDGE'S ORDERS In MY EPSTEIN FILES LAWSUIT!!
Katie Phang made the same argument twice on Wednesday, once at length and once in under three minutes. The short version is the one people pressed play on. "AG BLANCHE FAILS To COMPLY With JUDGE'S ORDERS In MY EPSTEIN FILES LAWSUIT!!" passed 120,000 views within its first 13 hours. Her Shorts rarely get anywhere near that.
The subject is narrow, and Phang treats it as a lawyer would. Her lawsuit seeks handwritten FBI notes from four separate interviews with a woman who told investigators she was sexually assaulted and physically abused when she was 13. Todd Blanche's latest filing says the government did what the court ordered. Phang, the attorney and former MSNBC anchor behind the channel, argues that it did not, and calls the filing a way to keep the notes from going public a little longer.
The comment section moved even faster than the views. It filled with more than 1,200 replies in half a day, where her Shorts usually gather a little over a hundred in a full one. Nearly all of them circle one question: what a contempt finding would actually mean at this level, and why deadlines keep passing without one. Others simply thank her for staying on the case.
The longer video making the same point, which names Judge Sullivan, has done far less, as has the rest of the channel. A report on lawyers leaving the Justice Department and an interview with Reproductive Freedom for All's Mini Timmaraju drew bigger crowds that day. Overall, the channel ran below its usual pace, so this Short stood out all the more.
