"Shettleston rises.": a Glasgow street clip leads Working Class Patriot's day
The clips channel posted several videos from Glasgow on the same day, including a standoff with police and an arrest, and this short one drew far more viewers than the rest.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 134,932 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (10,333).
Shettleston rises.
"Shettleston rises." is a two-word title on a short clip, and it names a place rather than a person. Shettleston is a district in the East End of Glasgow, and Working Class Patriot, a clips channel that reposts footage from British political rallies, speeches and street demonstrations, put the video up alongside a run of other Glasgow material.
The others give a sense of what the day was about. One is titled "Stand off in Glasgow between Patriots and the police", another "Police arrest patriot in Glasgow". Both drew a few thousand views. The Shettleston clip passed 75,000 in its first nine hours, where a Short here usually ends its whole first day near 10,000.
The comments came quickly as well, already more than double a usual first day. Much of the discussion is about immigration and local housing, with mentions of HMOs (shared rental houses) and the outsourcing company Serco. Many commenters write from outside Scotland, from Hastings and from Northern Ireland, to send support to people in Glasgow.
The rest of the channel's day was speeches: two clips of Rupert Lowe, the MP for Great Yarmouth, and one of Henry Bolton, the former UKIP leader, under the Restore Britain name. Those stayed in the low thousands. For a channel running below its usual pace overall, the street footage from Shettleston carried the day.

The numbers
One short clip from Glasgow ran far ahead of the channel's usual first day, even as the channel as a whole was quieter than normal.
