"Every Parent Should Follow This": Patrick Bet-David lays down his house rules
His Short about the standards he sets for his children turned the comments into a mix of parenting jokes, family memories and arguments about boundaries.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 404,461 views a day, 22 times a normal first day on this channel (18,510).
Every Parent Should Follow This
Valuetainment spent the start of the week deep in artificial intelligence. Jacob Coxon, who walked away from Anthropic, sat down for a long interview about his resignation and why he expects 2027 to be "a crazy year," and a run of shorter cuts followed on China, Elon Musk's xAI and whether technology this powerful belongs in private hands. The upload that ran ahead of all of them was about something much closer to home.
In "Every Parent Should Follow This," Patrick Bet-David, the channel's founder and host of the PBD Podcast, explains the standards he sets for his own children. The father of four has talked about family on his shows before, and this time a short clip did more than any AI warning. It passed 228,000 views in nine hours. A Short here usually ends its whole first day well under 20,000.
It came on a slower day for the channel overall. Most of the political talk channels closest to it in size are also running below their usual pace, with Philip DeFranco the clear exception.
The comment section is the lively part. In those first hours it filled far faster than a usual Short's does in an entire day. Many viewers answer with rule lists of their own, each more absurd than the last, poking fun at how demanding his sound. Others take the question seriously. A grandparent describes removing the television from the house for two years when his own children were teenagers. Some argue that every child needs firm limits, and a few recall a strict parent who went further than that. The father in the clip has put a very old argument back on the table.

What viewers say
had a similar issue with my now 45 and 44 year old when they were in their teens. I took the TV out of the house for 2 years. They thank me even now occasionally and restrict all media use in their homes. These 4 grandkids are all well adjusted, affable, smart and have many interests and all do well in school.

@MyLil_ButtercupSee it on YouTubeAll kids need and appreciate boundaries. It demonstrates that you love me, Dad.
Why do kids test the margin? They all do. He didn't yell, which shows his respect toward them. They in turn will respect him - and believe his words.@JanetJones-y2zSee it on YouTube
