Why is the floor so slippery?! 😹🐾 #funnycats #shorts
Friction lost this one. "Why is the floor so slippery?!" is a short clip of a cat and a floor that will not cooperate. It was posted on Totally Funny Animals, the pet-clips channel from the people behind America's Funniest Home Videos. In its first day it drew roughly 56,000 views. A new short here usually opens with a few thousand.
The title asks the question, and the comment section mostly answers it with dance moves. Some viewers hear Michael Jackson's "Beat It" playing in their heads. Others see break dancing. One reaches for the old image of a cat on a hot tin roof, borrowed from Tennessee Williams. Another says the whole thing is so cartoonish that it only needs sound effects. Several point out that the cat is orange, as if that settles the matter, a nod to the internet's long-running joke about orange cats and their behavior. A few owners chime in with their own cats, one tearing laps around a living room and another wrecking a chair at three in the morning. The comments came in about seven times faster than on a usual first day here.
The cat had plenty of company on the channel that day. Other shorts went up alongside it: a cat ringing a doorbell, a puppy's bedtime routine and a dog far too excited about a friend coming over. The excited dog did best of those, but it stayed well behind the slippery cat. The next upload, a camel the title says is missing a hump, had only just begun its first day.
