Over the Garden Wall, with Adam Chance, carries The Hound + The Fox into spooky season

The duo's cover of the theme from the cult animated series, made with the friend who introduced them to the show, is past 23,000 views in four weeks.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Past 139 million total views, The Hound + The Fox spent the week without a new upload, and the song doing most of the work is the one they built for exactly this time of year.

"Over the Garden Wall (feat. @AdamChance)" is their take on the theme of Over the Garden Wall, the 2014 Cartoon Network miniseries created by Patrick McHale, about two half-brothers lost in a strange autumn forest called the Unknown. The description credits their friend Adam Chance twice over: he introduced them to the show, and his own live version of the song last year inspired this one. They pitch it as a natural fit for an autumn or Halloween playlist, and four weeks in it is still the channel's busiest video by a wide margin.

Behind it sits a summer cover of Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times", and a nine-day-old seasonal short asking whether you have seen the "Ghost of John", the old spooky round many people first sang at school or around a campfire.

The channel ran a little below its usual daily pace, and subscribers held at 441,000. Even so, among the pop and singer-songwriter channels nearest its size, none added more views over the week, with Stan Walker the closest behind. For a duo whose catalog leans toward gentle covers, October seems to suit them.
