replying to 25 yr old me as a 30 year old
dodie calls doddlevloggle her scrapbook, a diary that sits beside doddleoddle, the channel where her music lives. Nothing new went into the scrapbook over the past seven days, so readers were left to leaf back through older pages.
The page they open most is "replying to 25 yr old me as a 30 year old," posted a little over a year ago. It is the latest entry in a long correspondence with herself: a letter written at 20 to her 25-year-old self, a reply at 25, then a letter to 30, and finally this answer, filmed once she got there. Its description still points to the album Not For Lack Of Trying and its October 3rd release, so the video doubled as an album announcement.
Close behind are two more pieces of the same diary: a tour of a bedroom she says reflects her improved mental state, and a video rating every year of her twenties out of ten, where she asks viewers how their own graph would look. Taken together, they read like a running conversation about growing up.
The channel drew around 15,000 views over the week, a little below its usual pace, and the subscriber count held where it was. Among the singer-songwriter channels near her size, Freya Skye is the one having the big week. For doddlevloggle, the busiest pages are the ones where dodie talks to herself across the years.
