'bad taste' gets two new versions, and Freya Skye's viewers want Spotify

On an ordinary day, Freya Skye's channel draws a little over 400,000 views. Right now it is running at closer to 620,000, and most of that lift traces back to one song.

"Freya Skye - bad taste" went up 18 days ago on Hollywood Records, the Disney-owned label behind her music, and it is still the video doing the heavy work, nearing three million views. Directed by Sophie Hm, it is a song about a weakness for the wrong boy, with KIIS FM's JoJo Wright credited as the radio announcer.

Of the four uploads this week, the most watched was a short announcing two new versions of the song. Its comment section turned into one long plea: the extended cut landed on Apple Music first, and viewers kept asking for it on Spotify, while others hoped one of the two would turn out to be acoustic. One commenter in the UK noticed Spotify itself was having outages that afternoon.

The freshest clip comes from the road. "if this ain't love, i don't want it" carries the Stars Align Tour tag, and in its first day it moved faster than anything else she posted all week. A Freya Central thank-you and a short titled "voice of an angel" filled out the rest.

Among pop and singer-songwriter channels of her size, nobody added more views this week, though Christopher Cross came close. Freya added about 7,000 subscribers, edging a little nearer to a million.
