A song in 5:4 and a Sara Bareilles tribute from MALINDA
Her lyrics video in an odd time signature passed 50,000 views in under a week, a day after a love letter to another songwriter's new single.

The best lyrics I’ve ever written…and in 5:4
There is no ordinary day on hand to set against this one, so MALINDA's two new videos have to make the case themselves, and both are about the craft of songs.
The first, "Sara Bareilles's new song is just that good," is exactly what its title says: one songwriter pointing at another's work. Bareilles, the voice behind "Love Song" and the composer of the Broadway musical Waitress, is a natural hero for a channel built on picking songs apart.
The next day brought something more personal. "The best lyrics I've ever written…and in 5:4" pairs a confident claim with a technical one: five beats to the bar, a meter most pop songs never go near. It drew close to 30,000 views on its first day and has passed 50,000 since, the busiest video on the channel right now.
Right behind it sits "Your taste in music is niche enough to find this," nine days old and moving at nearly the same pace, a title that reads like a wink at exactly the people watching. Further back, "I made a record. And now I'm remaking it." is still drawing a steady trickle six weeks on, a reminder that MALINDA's own album project runs underneath everything else here.
The subscriber count held at about 1.77 million. Among the singer-songwriter channels nearest her in size, doddleoddle, with a little under two million subscribers, keeps drawing a large daily audience, while MALINDA's week was a smaller, more musical one: one song she admires, one she wrote.
