A Yamaha saxophone and Hotel California, beatboxed, fill Kevin Olusola's pause
The Pentatonix beatboxer posted nothing new, and his channel sits just short of 40 million total views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
THIS SAXOPHONE THOUGH 🤯 #shorts #music
Kevin Olusola's channel is closing in on 40 million total views. He posted nothing new over the week, so the short clips from late summer kept the counter moving.
The one viewers open most is "THIS SAXOPHONE THOUGH 🤯," a short in which he calls himself a kid in a candy store and tags Yamaha's Japanese music account. It is a fitting toy for someone better known for his mouth and his cello than for a horn. Close behind it, at a similar daily pace, is "MY VOICE IS A BEAT CHALLENGE," and its description offers a small domestic aside: his wife, he writes, hated him doing it.
The third is the most Olusola of the three. "YOU KNOW YOU'RE A BEATBOXER WHEN..." turns a bit of the Eagles' "Hotel California" into what he calls KO style. Beatboxing has been his signature since he joined Pentatonix, the a cappella group where he supplies the drums with his voice, and he pairs it with "cellobox," bowing the cello while beatboxing over it.
Subscribers held at about 487,000, a pause that suits a week with nothing new to promote. His about text points elsewhere anyway, to a book, Designed to Succeed, and the deluxe edition of his album Dawn Of A Misfit.
