A pristine 1972 FJ43 Land Cruiser closes Tedward's four-car week

Before the Toyota came a hybrid Kia Telluride, a 670-horsepower Volvo EX90 and a 1989 Maserati with a dogleg manual.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

What does a POV driver put in the garage when he has a free week? Tedward's answer was four cars from four very different corners: a family hybrid, a big electric Volvo, an Italian oddity from the late 80s and a Land Cruiser older than most of his viewers.

The newest, the 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43, went up on Monday and is already moving faster than anything else on the channel, about 8,000 views in its first fourteen hours. The FJ40 family is the classic short-wheelbase Cruiser that made Toyota's name off-road, and the FJ43 is its slightly longer cousin, so a pristine one is a rare thing to hear shift through the binaural microphones.

The week's most watched upload, though, is the 2027 Kia Telluride HEV X-Line SX-Prestige, billed in the title as unexpected luxury. Its comment section reads like a support group for converts: several people describe swearing off Hyundai and Kia, then changing their minds after a rental or a test drive. Others are simply glad the reviews stay positive, and one viewer notes it is the first night-driving review they have seen, all ambient lights included.

In between sat the Volvo EX90 Twin Motor Performance, a 670-horsepower "love hate relationship" by its own title, and a 1989 Maserati 430, whose BiTurbo V6 and dogleg gearbox had the strongest first day of the four.

The channel as a whole ran slower than usual, and the subscriber count held at 666,000. Most of the car channels close to Tedward's size are quieter than normal too; Sparks Motors and Seen Through Glass are the ones running above their usual pace.

The comments under "2027 Kia Telluride HEV X-Line SX- Prestige AWD - Unexpected Luxury (POV Binaural Audio)"

  • I was one of those I'll never drive a Hyundai/KIA guy before. Few months ago I took a rental 26 Sonata Hybrid cross country 2000 miles and it really made me consider those brands for my next vehicle. The hybrid system is smooth and predictable, infotainment is nice and responsive, ride was comfortable.
  • I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I appreciate how positive the car reviews are. Some people reviewing vehicles love to just dog on any car they can and I'll never understand it.
  • First Night Driving review video I’ve seen.
