A flooded Buick and an ozone machine: Rainman Ray hunts a leak

The car belongs to a longtime viewer's mother-in-law, and the comment section turned into a swap of leak-finding tricks.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Stop Mold Before It's Too Late: Car Leak Repair Guide! Flooded BuickStop Mold Before It's Too Late: Car Leak Repair Guide! Flooded Buick

"Stop Mold Before It's Too Late: Car Leak Repair Guide! Flooded Buick" is a water hunt at Ray's Auto Clinic in Bradenton, Florida, the independent shop behind Rainman Ray's Repairs. Damp carpet, mold starting in the cabin, and Ray spraying down the outside of the car until he finds where the water gets in. Then he dries the interior with an air-powered carpet blaster and treats the smell with an ozone machine.

The Buick turned out to belong to the mother-in-law of a longtime viewer, who wrote in to say he sends her to Ray when she is in Florida. Other people traded methods. A thermal camera came up, since water cools whatever it touches. So did clogged sunroof and rear drains, which several viewers call the usual suspect. Someone also noticed that the leak specialist is named Rainman.

The second upload went from rain to acid. A 2007 LBZ Duramax arrived with both of its batteries dead and leaking. Ray cuts out the rusted metal and fits Optima Yellow Tops, with a stop on why a dual-purpose battery suits a truck that also carries a backup generator in its toolbox. It is the faster of the two now, though the busiest video on the channel is still "Buy Here PAY Here Car Scam! Mechanic Crash Out!", the saga of a 2005 Yukon that sat in the shop for more than a month.

Views ran well below the channel's usual pace this week, and most of the car channels around it were slower too. Even so, only Pushing Pistons gathered more views among them, about 1.4 million for Ray over seven days.

  • Hey Ray, this is my mother in laws car. I have been watching you for awhile and have sent her your way when she is in Florida. You did great on the rear wheel bearing and this. If I can't throw a wrench at it, might as well be you!! Thanks for taking a good look, appreciate it!

  • My go to for finding water leaks is a thermal camera. Water does a great job at cooling
