Harry Litman on Trump's bid to delay the fight over Jack Smith's sealed Volume II
The Talking Feds breakdown of a new Trump filing in the Judge Cannon appeal came close to 245,000 views in its first nine hours.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 443,163 views a day, 6.3 times a normal first day on this channel (70,355).
Judge Cannon's JACK SMITH Gag Order Battle Hit With a STUNNING Trump Excuse
Jack Smith's final report came in two parts. One was made public. The other, Volume II, covers the classified documents case against Donald Trump, and it has stayed out of public view under an order from Judge Aileen Cannon, the Florida federal judge who dismissed that case in 2024.
Harry Litman's newest video, titled "Judge Cannon's JACK SMITH Gag Order Battle Hit With a STUNNING Trump Excuse", picks up the latest turn in the effort to overturn that order. According to the description, it walks through a Trump court filing that asks to postpone oral argument in the appeal. For Litman, a former U.S. attorney and Justice Department official who teaches constitutional law, the procedural fine print is the whole point of the channel: what a filing asks for, and what it would mean if a court agreed.
A regular Talking Feds video usually draws about 70,000 views across its entire first day. This one passed three times that in nine hours. Its comment section had already collected more than twice the comments a regular video gets in a full first day, and most of them come back to one request: release Volume II. Many also say they are tired of waiting for the appeals court to act.
The video also stands out from a busy few days on the channel. Rick Wilson's conversation about the midterms map, two segments on Justice Samuel Alito's remarks about retirement, and a pair of videos on court rulings about U.S. attorneys, one with MeidasTouch's Ben Meiselas, all went up around the same time. None of them has yet reached what the Cannon breakdown drew before its first day was even half over.
