A clout-chasing influencer meets Baz the tradie in ShakTV's newest skit
The Sydney sketch channel's only upload of the week passed 77,000 views in its first day, and the comments are busy naming real influencers.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
The Annoying Influencer Who Does Everything for Clout
ShakTV sits third by subscribers among the comedy sketch channels near its size, but seventh by views added over the seven days, in a group where EthanThe Artist and Sam Cornforth are both running well above their usual pace. That says more about the neighbors than about Shak, whose own channel actually ran ahead of its usual daily pace.
The reason is a single new skit, "The Annoying Influencer Who Does Everything for Clout." Shak's channel promises "low budget skits and sketches," and his tags read like a map of Sydney characters: eshays, bogans, lads. This time the target is the creator who films everything, and the description makes its verdict plain: they need to be cancelled. It drew more than 77,000 views on its first day and is past 93,000 now.
The comment section has turned into a guessing game. The most replied-to comment simply asks which real influencer this reminds people of, and viewers answer with Jack Doherty and the Stokes twins. Others are firmly on the side of Baz, the tradie who stands up for a character called Russell, and several think the punch at the end was earned. One more thing comes up again and again: how Shak manages to play every stereotype so precisely.
Behind it, older sketches keep working. "When You Sit Next to the Bad Kid in Class," three weeks old, has passed 600,000 views and is still picking up thousands a day, and "That One Friend Who Takes Gaming Too Seriously" is close to 190,000.
