'Mexican Parties' crosses a million, and Hispanixs gains 19,000 subscribers
A run of short videos about Mexican life, from ofrendas to ceviche to what workers drink on the job, carried the channel to 148,000.
Why this story? The channel went from 129,000 to 148,000 subscribers this week.
What carries a channel from 129,000 to 148,000 subscribers in seven days? For Hispanixs, the answer is a steady stream of short videos about Mexican everyday life, and one of them went much further than the rest.
"Mexican Parties 🇲🇽🎉" went up on October 3 and had passed a million views four days later. That is well beyond what a typical upload here reaches. The title makes no secret of its subject, and it sits comfortably in a channel whose videos keep coming back to Mexico: what people eat, drink and celebrate, often set beside how things are done north of the border.
The rest of the week followed the same thread. "is Corona time 🍺" is approaching half a million views. "🇺🇸 finding out what 🇲🇽 blue collar drinks at work" passed 100,000 in its first two days, and "Mexican Ceviche 🇲🇽🦐" went up the same day. There was also a "Quick Question" about Day of the Dead ofrendas, the home altars families build for the holiday at the start of November.
The channel draws views on a scale far beyond its subscriber count, more than three million a day, and that pace held close to its usual level. What changed was how many of those viewers decided to stay. Nearly 19,000 of them subscribed, and the channel grew by about a seventh in a single week.
