Sam Cornforth has found a running joke, and he is not letting go of it. His one upload of the week, "When the barber exposes your hairline", moves his receding-hairline bit from the beach to the barber's chair. The description credits him as Handsome Balding Man and Kieron as The London Barber, and the sketch drew close to 900,000 views on its first day alone.
The comments are mostly about the man holding the clippers. The most liked one points out the barber's own hairline, and others admire his hair or wonder why he looks so red. Plenty of viewers single out the reveal, the hair drifting off when Sam lifts his hat, and a line about a GoFundMe. A few are already counting down to 500,000 subscribers.
The joke goes back to summer. "When the water exposes your hairline", posted about three months ago with his girlfriend and a seagull credited in the cast, has passed 32 million views and is still bringing in more than 100,000 a day. Not far behind it is "British Heatwave: THE VIDEO GAME", the office sketch he wrote, directed and edited himself.
The channel is running ahead of its usual pace and added around 3,000 subscribers over the week. That leaves it about 6,000 short of half a million. Among the sketch channels around its size, Catron Culture and EthanThe Artist drew the biggest crowds, though both ran below their own usual pace. Hamish & Andy and TheTalentlessWriter had quiet weeks.
