Onevilage's 'Happy Birthday' gets a comment section full of other people's birthdays

Viewers take the short as a birthday wish built to confuse, and repeat one of his lines back at him, while many more simply add a greeting of their own.

A typical Onevilage short collects around 150,000 views on its first day. "Happy Birthday 🥹🎉", posted on October 7, drew about two million in the same stretch and was close to two and a half million a little over a day after it went up.

The title is nearly all the creator gives away: a greeting and two emojis. The comments fill in the rest. Many viewers read the short as a birthday wish designed to scramble whoever receives it. One of the most liked replies repeats a line of his straight back at him, and another popular joke turns the bit into a mock proverb: before you can confuse anyone else, you have to confuse yourself. Several viewers point out that not even grandma gets a pass.

Mostly, though, people just say happy birthday. The comments came in almost nine times faster than on his usual first day, and a good share of them come from strangers announcing that it is their birthday too, or was yesterday. Whose birthday the short is actually for, the title does not say.

The nickname he sang back against in his previous story, as we reported here, followed him to the party. A few commenters send their birthday wishes to the name he insists is not his.

His other new shorts are running at a more familiar pace. "Who Genuinely Does This 😭🥀", posted the same day, is past 50,000 views, and four more posted on Thursday are still in their first hours.
