Riot Games adds 4,000 subscribers without a new upload
An older Viego art workshop remains active alongside Marc Merrill's PAX West MMO appearance and a Mel art clip.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Riot Artists Imagine Viego in League Classic - Super Art Power Hour Ep. 14
Riot Games left the upload calendar empty, but its subscriber count kept moving. The channel added roughly 4,000 subscribers over the past seven days, though that is a gentler pace than its growth across the past month. Daily views are also running below their usual level.
The older uploads drawing attention offer three different windows into Riot: character-making, co-founder Marc Merrill discussing the MMO at PAX West, and "This Mel Art is INCREDIBLE." Of those, the Viego episode of Super Art Power Hour is attracting the most daily views.
We previously covered its retro makeover, but the workshop has more to offer than the finished costume. Principal technical artist JP Putnam explains how joint influences make a character mesh move, before senior animator Einar Langfjord takes over. Those oversized feet create a practical problem: keeping them from clipping into each other during a run cycle. This is an artistic exercise, not a skin planned for release.
Among nearby gaming channels, Forza and Diablo are enjoying above-usual daily viewing, while Bungie and Sea of Thieves are quieter than normal. Riot's weekly view gain is close to both of the latter channels, with its own catalog supplying all the activity in a week without a release.
