MASSACHUSETTS Starter Pokemon!
Brandon, the designer behind PragMagik, gave his state-starters series a new stop this week: "MASSACHUSETTS Starter Pokemon!" It was his only upload, a short credited alongside @bromojumbo, and it picked up about 63,000 views on its first day. It is now the fastest video on the channel.
The grass starter is the one people keep writing about. Eleafant, a leafy elephant with googly eyes, reminded a lot of viewers of Horton from Horton Hears a Who, and one commenter laid out the logic: Dr. Seuss came from Springfield, Massachusetts. Brandon gives no rundown of his inspirations this time, which one longtime viewer noticed, so the comment section did the decoding itself. Others caught a slip in the narration, where a starter called fire/flying turns out to be fire/fairy, and a few say the theme behind each state is getting harder to guess.
The Fakemon catalog keeps working in the background. "NEW Pokemon OLD Names!", from mid-September, is near half a million views. "I made OPPOSITE Pokemon!", which flips Charizard, Lucario and Gengar by type, stats and concept, has passed a quarter of a million.
Daily views are running well below their usual pace, and a little over 2,000 new subscribers arrived over the week. Even so, no channel in his strategy and role-playing group added more views: about three million in seven days. MadSeasonShow was the other one having a big week, running at roughly double its normal daily pace.
